Ribbon blenders consist of a trough and a set of inner and outer mixing ribbons or augers. Inner ribbons move the material from the center to ends while outer ribbons move the material from the ends to the center. As a result of this movement, homogenous blending is achieved in a short time. Ribbon blenders are used to mix a wide range of both dry and wet materials, including such items as cake mixes, cereal, cocoa, cosmetics, flavorings, gelatin, infant formula, medications, pet food, salad dressing and seasonings. Many Koss ribbon blenders are used for blending various combinations of natural cheeses, emulsifiers, and salt to make processed cheese.
